Claudia Kocher, Associate Professor of Finance, was recommended by UM-Dearborn Chancellor Daniel Little to join the Michigan Healthy Community Advisory Committee. This new advisory board is a continuation of the Michigan Healthy Community Initiative and will address the growing concerns in health care by examining how the University of Michigan can promote healthy living, contain health care expenditures, and define optimal insurance coverage for individuals and families.
Kocher was selected, in part, because of her experience and research in the health care industry. Prior to pursuing graduate studies in business, Kocher worked as a registered nurse for eight years and her research has been published in Health Care Management Review.
The Michigan Healthy Community Advisory Committee, with representatives from each of the University of Michigan campuses and the University of Michigan Health System, draws on the rich and broad-based intellectual resources of the University to help address the national challenge in health care by developing innovative long-range solutions to improving health at the University and beyond.
